First off the donation site will be changing at the end of this month (July). I will update the links and share the information once the new site is set up. Be sure to change any bookmarks or links you may have made to the fundraiser page once it's updated.
And now time for the numbers:
We're less than $500 away from the original goal of $3000 and there are still 6 marathons left! So along with the change in fundraising site I will post the new goal of $5000! You guys are doing great and I'm thrilled to be able to increase the goal by so much!
Finish time at Banff - 3:00:11 (ugh). That brings the total time to 18:03:16 for an average finish time of 3:00:33. So I'm still over by 3:16 but should be able to get that and more back for my July marathon, the Jack and Jill's DOWNHILL marathon :)
As for the Banff marathon, IT WAS STUNNING!
Definitely some of the best scenery and the weather was pretty good for July. I just wish it had started around 7am instead of 9 because the temps did get up into the upper 60s and the sun was pretty strong near the end of the race. That combined with navigating a winding bike path through half marathoners in the last couple miles is likely what contributed to missing sub 3 by such a slim margin! I imagine the hiking I did in the days leading up to the marathon wasn't conducive to being fully rested but I wasn't about to pass on the opportunity to take in some of the most breathtaking scenery in North America!
So by all means I recommend visiting Banff and taking in the sites. But if you choose to do the marathon, half, or 10k there, maybe don't aim for one of your faster times.
Six down, six to go! Up next, The Jack and Jill's Downhill marathon which goes from Snoqualmie Pass to North Bend, WA just east of Seattle. The dream is to hit 2:41 and qualify for the Chicago Marathon's American Development Program but the goal is always still #Sub3forPtR!
